From My Journal

 TODAY IS August 25, 2025

AROUND ME

While this is not my own scenery, it's what I am dreaming of!

I AM PONDERING the love of Christ and how He lavishes us with air to breathe, homes to live in, wonderful family and friends, beautiful scenery to enjoy, salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ who is our Eternal Hope.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS knowing that beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is in control, regardless of how things look before me.  I used these same words in my last post, which was August 4.  Little did I know then how I would be given opportunity to have my faith grow in that area!

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING The Christian Life by Sinclair Ferguson.  It will be a while before I finish it because, as its subtitle indicates, it is an introduction into doctrine.  I'm also doing an in-depth study of the book of Hebrews.  I'm about to finish up Chapter 7.  Such a rich study!

I AM THANKFUL FOR the people that God puts into my life...both the ones who are encouraging and the ones who are sometimes discouraging.  There's always something to be thankful for...always!

NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN God IS in control!

FROM THE KITCHEN I don't have a lot to report from the kitchen this time, unless I show you all of the jars of jams that I've made since my last post.  And you've seen pictures of the jams before.  The majority of it has been red raspberry jam...some with honey, some with sugar.  I made my first black raspberry jam last week with honey.

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY the mom of the Littles next-door called me the other day to chat and she was sharing all of the cute things that the kiddos have been doing and saying.  I loved hearing it all.

  1. So thankful for the door that was opened to us. Sinclair Ferguson spoke at MacArthur's memorial service and at Grace for Sunday services. What a glorious message he and others gave during the service. I hope you have a good week!

    1. Me, too, Ellen. I was able to watch the live stream on Saturday. The service was so good and the thing I loved the most was how Christ honoring it was. I'm currently reading one of Sinclair Ferguson's books. He has such a pastoral heart, and it comes through in his teaching and preaching.

  2. Amen to the quote of the week... I'm dreaming of your Fall photo...so nice and gives us something to look forward to. I know your heart was blessed by the conversation with the next door neighbor. Diana, I am so thankful that God is in control...We must always put our lives, our trust in HIM.

    1. I liked that quote, too, Shug. If we choose to put our trust in ourselves rather than God, we will be a most miserable people.

  4. Asking the Lord, again, to humbly give me a meaningful life. I life your picture here. And I would love to see jars full of jam! Oh yum. I would so like to learn how to make jam! God is in control - a very good reminder for me this afternoon as I headed to a medical appointment. Thanks...as always, I so enjoyed your post!

I am catching up with my favorite blog reading and I have gone back a few to your journal after reading the ones that came before this one.I will probably only comment here though.I always love your journal ones. Hebrews, what an excellent study, I agree! Do you mind sharing what study you are doing?
You have a ministry right next door😊. Blessings!

    1. I don't mind at all, Cathy. It isn't a printed study so to speak. Our pastor loaned me one of his commentaries which is called Expository Commentary Hebrews-Revelation. I'm just going through Hebrews verse by verse and enjoying it so much. I'm currently in Chapter 7 about mid-way.

Yes, we do...one of the Littles just came over and visited with me for a bit. She's 9 and we had such a sweet conversation together.
