I've been sharing, on ocassion, the different aspects of kindness, my One Word for 2024. Last week I mentioned that I was also seeing words that go along with kindness and showed gentleness as one of the characteristics of kindness.
This all began as a result of my memorizing Romans 12, which deals some with pride. A few days ago I was reviewing verse 3 which says, "For through the grace given to me I say to each one among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound thinking, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith."
Hmmm...it struck me how directly this was dealing with pride. What characteristic of kindness would offset pride?
Yes, humility...another part of the fruit of the Spirit!
Pride is such a sneaky thing, and I heard it said once, that it is often the root of so many sins.
ReplyDeleteYes it is, Mari.
DeletePride is way up there on things we need to mortify. Hope you have a great day with lots of opportunities to show kindness. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen.
DeleteIt's interesting to think of character aspects that go along with kindness. Proud people generally aren't kind, except as it serves self-interest.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, Barbara.
DeleteOur pastor says that pride is the root of all sin.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your pastor, Karen. We find it lurking everywhere.
Deletelove the gifts of the holy spirit, and what a thoughtful reflection on kindness :)
ReplyDeleteAwww...thank you, friend, for your kind words. xx
DeleteUgh it is so hard to put down our ugly pride. God please help! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou speak true words, my friend. xx
