From My Journal

 TODAY IS: May 20, 2024

AROUND ME: the fog has lifted and we have temperatures in the low 80s promised for today!  It's so wonderful to see the sun shining after days of rain.

I AM PONDERING: the goodness of God in His provision for faithful godly men who can lead us when our pastor is  away.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS:

The mother of one of our little nextdoor neighbor girls called the other evening to make sure I was home because her youngest daughter had something she had made for me.  When the Little brought it over she was all smiles as she handed it to me and said, "It's a cross that I made for you."

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY ENJOYING:

Refreshment for the Soul is a collection of Richard Sibbes thoughts on different topics and is compiled as a devotional.  So, it will be an ongoing reading throughout this year.

The Soul's Conflict  by Richard Sibbes

It's Easier to Succeed Than to Fail by S. Truett Cathy

I AM THANKFUL FOR: the little blessings in life...

FROM THE KITCHEN:  I tried a new recipe for Mushroom, Spinach, & Swiss Cheese Quiche one evening last week.  YUMMY!  The recipe is from Magnolia Journal...here's a link to the recipe...Mushroom, Spinach & Swiss Cheese Quiche

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOYThis perennial flowerbed in the middle of the side yard.

TO DO LIST FOR TODAYA bit of laundry and lunch out with friends to celebrate a birthday.

"So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom."
Psalm 90:12

    1. I know...she's the sweetest little girl. I finished Mr. Cathy's book yesterday and I did truly enjoy it. I'm really glad that I read the book (you were the inspiration for my doing so, you know) because I had no idea of all the different tragedies that occured in his life and yet, it didn't keep him from perservering. What an encouragement!

  10. That is such a pretty flowerbed....and in the middle of the yard. I would not have thought of that but I really like it. Hmmm (do I have a spot for something like that??) I, too, am very thankful for little blessings. We have seen some answers to prayer lately. Small things but such reminders that God is working....especially in the heart and life of our loved one!!

    1. Thank you, Jennifer, for your kind words regarding the flower bed. We moved here 25 years ago and there was already a flower bed there, but it had cross-ties as the border. They were in really bad shape so my husband collected the rock that was on a friend's farm and used it for the flower bed.

I just realized yesterday an answer to prayer for something I had been praying for for quite a while...always proves the faithfulness of our Father!
