From My Journal

 TODAY IS: June 17, 2024

AROUND ME: expecting temperatures in the mid 90s today...and several other days this week!  That puts me out in the flowerbeds early in the mornings before it gets too hot.

I AM PONDERING: the faithfulness of God in answering the prayers of His children and giving us safety in our travels over the last week!

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS:  celebrating this girl...

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY ENJOYING my reading has slowed down quite a bit because of preparing for our trip this month, so there isn't any change in the books I've been listing other than the book by Sinclair Ferguson on the trinitarian views of John Owen.

Refreshment for the Soul is a collection of Richard Sibbes thoughts on different topics and is compiled as a devotional.  So, it will be an ongoing reading throughout this year.

The Soul's Conflict  by Richard Sibbes

John Owen by Sinclair Ferguson

I AM THANKFUL FOR:  some very well spent time with our family in Maine.

FROM THE KITCHEN: not a lot of exciting things since we just returned from Maine, but I did make some lasagna roll-ups and some chocolate chia pudding since we've been home.

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOYfamily time

TO DO LIST FOR TODAY doing much needed work in a perennial bed and thoroughly clean a bedroom.

"So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom."
Psalm 90:12

    1. Thanks, Karen. I totally agree...the best time spent is with family. It had been two years since we'd been with them and we soaked up every minute we could.

    1. Thank you so much, Ellen. We flew to Maine this time. Two years ago when we went, we drove up and it's about a 14 hour trip and hubby said from then on that we would fly when we went. I was able to get over half of the perennial bed done this morning early...was back inside by 7:30. Lord willing, I will finish up the rest early tomorrow morning.

    1. Thank you, Jenny. She is the youngest of our grandchildren and I had a friend remind me today that the last of our grandchildren has now graduated. Kind of the end of an era. :) Thank you for stopping by. xoxo

    1. Thank you, Julia! It was truly a blessing to have the time with family. We talk often on the phone but there's nothing like being in the same room with them. We had good flights both going to Maine and returning to West Virginia.

    1. You, my friend and prayer warrior, have no idea how many times I thought of you while we were away. You prayed our kids through Covid, got me through security at the airports and gave us special special times with our family. I'm glad that the pictures made you happy. Thank you for your kind words regarding our girl. We think she's pretty special. :) You are the first person who has told me that she and I look alike, but I can see why you say that. She favors Carroll's side of the family, but she and I are alike in a lot of our personality traits. xoxo
