From My Journal

  TODAY IS: 21 April 2025

AROUND ME:  We have been enjoying beautiful weather with the temperatures in the 60s, 70s, and 80s!  We have also had some micro-bursts that have done some damage in the area.  We are thankful for God's protection.

I AM PONDERING: how precious it is to be a part of God's family, for His adoption that brings me in close relationship with Him.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS: God's Word and the Source of peace and joy that it brings me.  I've had a couple of times this past week when I've felt queasy and just kind of blah.  I would reach for my Bible and begin reading and when I was finished, I'd be feeling so much better.  Indeed, it is like a soothing balm to my soul.

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY ENJOYING: Since last week I have completed A Month of Summer by Lisa Wingate and To Seek and To Save by Sinclair Ferguson.

I AM THANKFUL FOR our church, my Bible, and Jesus.  I am also thankful that both the pear trees and the Redbud tree that we thought the freeze had killed have bloomed beautifully.  The Redbud is in full bloom right now and it's the prettiest it's ever been.

FROM THE KITCHEN:  I was busy in the kitchen again this past week, but I forgot to take any pictures.  I made two different kinds of cookies as well as two different kinds of Gluten Free cookies for the luncheon after our Good Friday service.

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY:  Times of memory making with family.  Two weeks ago, we had dinner with one of my brothers and my nephew.  This past Friday we had dinner with Strongheart's brother and his wife and we also spent Easter with them at their home.  We were able to spend time with our four little great-nephews that we don't see very often.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK:

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK:

TO DO LIST FOR TODAY: Laundry, ironing, mending.

"So teach us to number our days,
that we may present to You a heart of wisdom."
Psalm 90:1

    1. I wondered if you were going to your sister's house. I wasn't sure if your kids/grandkids were coming in or not.

  2. I didn't think I had read that book of Lisa's, but I did just last year. I have a list of her book series in order, because I've gotten so many on Kindle sales and often can't remember whether I've read the rest in the series. I do remember liking this one.

We've had some gorgeous weather here, too. I'm glad your trees are thriving after the freeze.

I'm glad you had a good time visiting relatives.

  3. I'm thankful for Spring, things are starting to pop here, although it's cool and windy! But seeing the trees start to green and flowers popping up is a wonderful thing and I thank God for the joy of His creation!
I think Elisabeth Elliot must have been a quiet, calm person. Her quotes are always a blessing.

    1. I know what you mean about spring. Everything coming to life gives us hope...on a different level... but like the resurrection of our Blessed Hope.

I've always enjoyed Elizabeth Elliot as she was the first introduction I had to missions after I came to know the Lord .

  10. I really like your To do list. Strangely, I find these things very relaxing, especially ironing! Why, I do not know. I usually pull out the old ironing board and all my supplies, put my ear buds in and just sing praises to the Lord when I iron. It is always so nice to be able to spend time with family and it was great that you and strongheart were able to do this. Wishing you a delightful week and lots of "you time."
