From My Journal

 TODAY IS: 19 May 2025

AROUND ME:  Life is good!  We are seeing different blooms in the flower gardens each day as we walk the garden.  I'm so appreciative of the beauty God has given us to enjoy.

I AM PONDERING:  the joy of knowing and delighting in Jesus, my Saviour, King and Redeemer.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS:  studying God's Word and drawing closer to Him.

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY ENJOYING:   Emma by Jane Austen is still being enjoyed immensely by me.

I AM THANKFUL FOR:  the peace and contentment that comes with knowing Jesus.

NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN: When a cell phone won't come on or stay on it's a very good sign that the battery has died. :)  Replacement has been ordered and am looking forward to possibly having everything up and running again by next Wednesday.

FROM THE KITCHEN: Our diet has been upgraded a bit this past week from only peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. :)  We've had some sloppy joes, onion rings, cube steak and gravy over brown rice, lasagna and salad (lots of salads now), and ham, sweet potato casserole and salad.  No pictures...but God willing, when my cell phone is revived this week, there will be pictures!

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY:

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK:

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK:

TO DO LIST FOR TODAY:  Day out with a friend, two loads of laundry.

"So teach us to number our days,
that we may present to You a heart of wisdom."
Psalm 90:12

  2. I'm glad you are feeling better and could upgrade your diet. And also thankful for a day out with a friend! I'm also doing a few loads of laundry today.
I like your quote for the week. It's easy to just go through the day, but so much better to look around and give thanks for all the blessings around us.

    1. I agree with your comment about the quote. So many times, I fail to live in the moment so that I can appreciate things that I would otherwise overlook. It's something I am working on.

  3. I am glad you're both feeling better! I'm happy you're enjoying Emma. If you want to watch the movie version after finishing the book, I'd recommend the 1996 version with Gwynneth Paltrow--I love Jeremy Northam's Mr. Knightley. Or the 2009 version with Romola Garai. She plays Emma a little more girlishly that Gwyneth does. I would avoid like the plague the 2020 version with the period in the title.

    1. You gave me reason to check out the films...I've watched all of the Jane Austen productions via PBS and in my search after reading your comment, it would appear that the one that I watched of Emma was a 1996 TV movie. It's really good (in my humble opinion) and I definitely liked Mark Strong as Mr. Knightley. I'd be interested in watching the others that you suggested to see I liked the other "Emmas" as much as I did Kate Beckinsale. So, thank you for sharing because now I am really serious.

  9. I like that little poem I will not Hurry. I get carried away being "efficient" and can easily miss out on little blessings.

    1. I totally understand about being carried away with being "efficient" and missing out on the little blessings. I'm working on it, though.

  10. I love that quote and the scripture! The pictures you include are always so pretty and just bring a smile!! And I have to agree - life is good!! Hope you are soaking in all the goodness this week has in store. I have watched many of the Austen movies but don't think I have actually read the books. At least not in a long while. That might be a good idea - thanks!
