TODAY IS June 9, 2025
AROUND ME there has been both sunshiny and rainy days in fairly equal proportions. I've been spending some time in the flower gardens and repotting some porch flowers.
I AM PONDERING how great the Father's love is and how He has always been. In particular, I've been thinking of how He was Father before there was creation because of Him being in relation to Jesus, His Son. How Jesus gave Himself that I might know that same love. And even more, I've thought of how the Spirit has always been...making up the Trinity. What a holy and awesome Godhead we serve when our lives are committed to Christ.
AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS
BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING I have finished Delighting in the Trinity by Michael Reeves. Maybe you could tell from the "I am pondering" section. :) It's an excellent book and I will most definitely be doing a review at some point. I'm continuing this week with He Fell in Love with His Wife by Edward P. Roe. I'm enjoying it so far and in places I've actually found myself laughing out loud.
I AM THANKFUL FOR the health that God has given me, my husband (always my husband), The Trinity as God who loves, Jesus who gave Himself that we might know that love, the Holy Spirit who not only guides us to the Saviour but also teaches and convicts in my life.
NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN that with love and knowledge comes responsibility. We are meant for community.
FROM THE KITCHEN
QUOTE FOR THE WEEK
TO DO LIST FOR TODAY thorough cleaning of the kitchen, a bit of gardening, and two loads of laundry.
"So teach us to number our days,
so that we may present to You a heart of wisdom"
Psalm 90:12

Good Morning Dianna. It is always such a blessing to me to read your post. The sense of your dedicated love for the Lord shines through each word. The peonies are such a beautiful color and wow....What a wonderful brightness they bring to a room. Perfect scripture and quote for the week...thanks for sharing these...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Shug, for your kind words of encouragement. xx
Deletewhat a beautiful gratitude journal, It makes me feel calm and reassured in God's love and God's plan, thank you!!! I bet the neighbor littles love you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, my friend. You are so kind. I'm so thankful that God ministers to you through His precious Spirit when you visit. We love the neighbor "littles" and they certainly reciprocate with their affection for us.
DeleteI love your "pondering"! The peonies are gorgeous and your journal gives me such peace! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Monica. I'm always blessed to know that and when God ministers to others when they stop here.
DeleteThe peonies are so beautiful! I love them, but ours seem to only put out 1 or 2 blooms.
ReplyDeleteLoved your thoughts this week and the pinterest post on being firmly rooted is so good.
Thank you, Mari. They have really outdone themselves here this year. In years past, they've been as you are experiencing this year. Thank you for your kind words, my friend. The Pinterest post on being firmly rooted was one that brought to mind my One Word Resilience. It's easy to stand firm when all is going good from an outward appearance, but our pastor always says, "let me see how you stand when the outward appearance isn't good".
DeleteThose peonies are such a pretty color. Oh, how I love peonies. Your time with the littles sounds so sweet. The Trinity...so cool and so hard to wrap your head around but...so grateful for the help on earth! Have a wonderful week, Dianna.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers. The year our daughter graduated high school we had her choose different places that she would like to visit. That summer we visited Monticello, Mount Vernon and a large plantation in VA. I believe it was at Monticello that they had vases of Peonies in the different rooms, and I can still close my eyes and smell the lovely fragrance of those Peonies.
DeleteIt truly is hard to wrap one's head around the Trinity, but when we have good teaching on it and embrace what we don't understand through faith, how wonderfully deep it takes us in our relationship to the Trinity.
A calming and peaceful post. How thankful I am to be a child of God!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, my friend. So am I, Karen, so am I! Jesus tells us in John 17 that God loves us with the same love as He loves Jesus with because He has adopted us as His children. Pondering that is just overwhelming.
DeleteSo pleased you enjoyed the Cauliflower Chicken Alfredo, many thanks for the link back to the blog.
ReplyDeleteYour peonies look beautiful, such a wonderful colour.
Lovely that you had the "Littles" from next door over to do their summer planting.
Special times for you and them.
Enjoy your week.
All the best Jan
You are welcome, Jan. Thank you for all of the delicious recipes!
DeleteWe always enjoy having the Littles over.
I love the relationship you cultivate with the 'Littles' next door.
ReplyDeleteI think flowers that come from plants/shrubs that originally grew in a dear one's garden mean much more than any others.
We do enjoy those kiddos. 😊
DeleteAnd I agree with you concerning flowers that have come from a loved one's garden.
Those peonies are so pretty. I've never seen them in a darker, intense color like that--I've only seen them white and pale pink. How sweet to have the connection with your mother-in-law through them.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to have the children come over to plant.
The cauliflower alfredo dish looks really good! I know you enjoy doing things with the littles next door and I'm sure they love those times with you.
ReplyDeleteMichael Reeve's book was indeed good an gave me a lot to think about.
