TODAY IS September 1, 2025
AROUND ME all of the wonderful signs of autumn are appearing...cooler evenings and nights, foggy mornings, crisp air, a few trees beginning to show their colors. I love watching the subtle changes as God begins to paint another season before our very eyes.
I AM PONDERING how wonderful it is to be alive in Christ, for even in a world full of chaos and disunity, I find peace through His Word.
AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS knowing and believing that Psalm 30:5 is true, for truly weeping may last for a night, but we have His promise that JOY comes in the morning.
BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING The Christian Life by Sinclair Ferguson. It will be a while before I finish it because, as its subtitle indicates, it is an introduction into doctrine. I'm also doing an in-depth study of the book of Hebrews. I'm about to finish up Chapter 7. Such a rich study! I am also reading Pour Out Your Heart by Jeremy Linneman, which was given as a gift to me by a dear friend.
I AM THANKFUL FOR living in an area of the world where there are four distinct seasons. While I have two seasons that are my favorites (spring and autumn), summer brings us rich produce from the garden as well as beautiful flowers to enjoy and winter brings us a time to unwind and rest up from all of our labors of the last several months.
NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN that the salvation of our souls isn't just printed in the books of the New Testament, but that it runs throughout the entire Bible, from Genesis through Revelation.
FROM THE KITCHEN Me thinks that I've gotten out of the habit of taking food pictures! I promise we haven't gone hungry here at our house. :) I just haven't taken pictures. I made a delicious one pot meal recipe from my friend BARBARA for Sausage, Pasta, and Squash. SO delicious. Another meal I made that we really enjoyed was one from ALL RECIPES for Salmon and Bell Pepper Sheet Pan Meal. It was a bit spicy, but delicious. The last one I will share came from my latest edition of Magnolia magazine for Joanna's DEEP DISH STREUSEL APPLE PIE WITH A HINT OF CHEESE. It turned out picture perfect, but I guess we were just hungrier for pie than I was concerned with picture taking. I'll try to do better next week! Oh...and I also canned/froze 24 quarts of green beans.
SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY knowing my loved ones are safe from harm's way.
QUOTE FOR THE WEEK
"So teach us to number our days,
so that we may present to You a heart of wisdom"
Psalm 90:12

I like your quote for the day. It's important to be paying attention to all the amazing things God puts around us.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering what you do with your peppers to freeze them. I've sliced them and put them in freezer bags. Is that how you freeze them?
Yes, that's the same thing I do. If I happen to have some little jars that things like relish, etc. comes in, I will use those. But mostly, it's freezer bags.
DeleteI am also thankful for four seasons and two of them I love, one is so so and the current one is barely tolerated.
ReplyDeleteI hear 'ya, Friend. xx
DeleteGreat quote today. I attended church last evening and "Don Piper" (90 min.in heaven) spoke. I am almost positive that you have read his book. He spoke of his experience, but he also made the comment that he knows that if others had any idea of what he saw, we would all be praising God with a steadfast heart..and how a steadfast heart does not waver when the wind changes..The Glory of the Lord is REAL.
ReplyDeleteHello Shug. I wasn't familiar with the name Don Piper and looked up his information. I think you may be thinking of the John Piper book that I reviewed a while back. And, yes, the glory of the Lord is real.
DeleteWe haven't seen any leaf changes yet. The temperatures have been wonderful. I know we'll have some hot spells before summer is truly over, but I am basking in the coolness now. I love having four distinct seasons, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's so true about salvation running all through the Bible. I see that more every time I read through it.
Our leaf changes are subtle right now, but definitely there. We noticed several trees on our way to church yesterday that are turning. Carroll took me air conditioner out last evening so hopefully we won't have any more super hot days ahead.
DeleteWe just heard a message a couple of weeks ago from 2 Samuel 9 picturing salvation. It was so good.
I enjoy the change of seasons very much. I grew up with fall colors and snow and blooms and summer so it's almost like being back home. Fall and spring are my favorites though.
ReplyDeleteI love that scripture. So very true.
That's a scripture that I preach to myself often.
DeleteI am also thankful for four seasons and my two favourites are Autumn and Spring.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy and peaceful new month of September.
All the best Jan
Thank you so much, Jan, for your encouraging words. Happy September! xx
DeleteAhh, let me be more dazzled by our Savior and our God! Happy September to you, dear Dianna.
ReplyDeleteAmen, my friend. Amen. xx
DeleteI love that quote for the week. How can we not be dazzled by all God has done for us!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI know, Karen. Counting our blessings, one by one, and we easily can see what wondrous things He has done for us.
DeleteI too like the fact that we definitely have all four seasons here, even if summer seems shorter than the rest :) My favourites are also autumn and spring and spring has just begun in our part of the world.
ReplyDeleteLovely! Enjoy the beauty of spring in your part of the world, Diana.
DeleteI love how you describe the change of seasons. 🍂 Spring and autumn are my favorites too — both carry such beauty and meaning. I love it that God often teaches me something new through these shifts in nature, gently reminding me of renewal, rest, and His steady hand in all of life’s changes.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about autumn are the spider webs in the early morning among the heather bushes. When the sun comes up, the droplets on the threads look like little diamonds.
Hello Aritha! I like those spider webs also. I'd love to get a picture of one that was actually able to show the "diamonds" because that's just what they look like! I've tried numerous times to get a good picture, but it's still not yet accomplished.
DeleteWonderful quotes. May God bless you in your home this week!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by, Laura.
DeleteI've always lived in a place that had four seasons and can't imagine missing one. Nice post and have a wonderful month of September.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bill, for your words of encouragement. There's such a wonderful rhythm about the change of seasons...the way they follow one after another.
DeleteSuch a beautiful quote...and how true! Things that dazzle and amaze are just everywhere. Little reminders from God's hand of just how much He cares and loves us! The eating does sound delicious at your house. And so does the reading and studying. I am not much of a reader but how profitable it would be if I spent more time reading such rich books! Happy September to you, my friend!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jennifer, for your encouraging words. Yes, much to be dazzled by in God's daily provisions for us. I trust that your September will be one of joy and peace, my friend. xx
DeleteThe Streusel Apple Pie sounds like something we would enjoy and since the season of apples is here I should make it.
ReplyDeleteYou did up 24 quarts of green beans...Good for you!!
The streusel apple pie was good, but I think the next time I make it, I'll leave the cheese out of the crust because we couldn't taste even that "hint" of cheese that she talks about. But it is a really good pie...especially the streusel topping!
DeleteYes...24 quarts of green beans. This week's focus has been on tomatoes. More about that next week! :)
