From My Journal

 TODAY IS September 22, 2025

AROUND ME the weather is still pleasant with low humidity, temperatures in the 70s and 80s, and a bit of rain that was really needed.

I AM PONDERING what God has in store for our church as our pastor announced yesterday that we are officially in the pastor search mode.  It didn't come as a surprise to us, and he is going to remain until we have someone in place.  We are thankful that we can trust in the sovereignty of our Father Who does all things well.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS spending time with family.  We had a family get together on Saturday to celebrate three September birthdays and it was so good to enjoy that time of fellowship.

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING  The Christian Life by Sinclair Ferguson

I AM THANKFUL FOR my husband, our children, their spouses and our grandchildren, my Redeemer and King, the blessed Trinity.

NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN that God goes before us, preparing the way for whatever lies ahead.

FROM THE KITCHEN

This reminded me a lot of Low Country Boil...delicious!

  1. Your "From the Kitchen" dish looks amazing!! Searching for a new pastor can be a challenge as you wait on the Lord to lead the church to the one He is calling to do HIS work. Praying for your church as they go through this season. One day at a time is all that the Lord ask of us.

    1. Thank you so much, my friend, for your prayers. I know you've gone through this and how wonderfully God has supplied your church.
Thank you for the kind words regarding the sheet pan dinner. It really was a tasty meal.
I found that quote to be suitable for some of the things our country has been dealing with of late.

  3. Our church has been in Pastor search for a while now. Not for a lead Pastor but it still has been a challenge. Praying God brings up young men to love Him and serve him and to meet the challenge of filling pulpits. Love the Spurgeon quote!

    1. I know the Lord will bring us just the right person. We are blessed in the fact that our current pastor is willing to stay on to help with the search, so it isn't that we are without a pastor right now. That's a blessing. xx

  9. Finding and transitioning to a new pastor can be difficult. It's good your current pastor is staying on until someone else can be found. At one church we were in, the pastor died, and it was a year before we had a new one. I hope the search and changes go well and will occur in a timely manner.

How fun to have a family get-together and celebrate three birthdays at once!

The sausage and shrimp bake looks really good.

    1. Thanks so much, Aritha, for your kind words. Our country has been in turmoil recently and I thought the words from Psalm 90:12 would be an encouragement to us all.
The shrimp and sausage bake really was good. It had a bit of spicy heat to it, but SO good!
You are welcome for the quote by Spurgeon. I thought it put life in perspective.
Dear Regards to you as well! :)

  11. September is a month of birthdays for your family. What a great idea to celebrate them all at the same time. You get to see and visit with everyone. That's how October is for us. Birthdays and several anniversaries.
Your food always looks so good and this sheet pan medley is no exception. ( Of course I'd be carefully avoiding the meat *smile* )

    1. Yes, September is birthday month around here. In fact, our grandson's birthday is tomorrow (Thursday). He lives away from us, so we won't be with him on his special day, but I'm sure we will be in touch. October is another birthday month here.
Thanks for your kind words regarding the sheet pan meal.

    1. Thank you so much, Karen, for your well wishes. We were teasing our pastor at Bible study tonight that we were all going to be really horrible people when a candidate would come in so that they wouldn't want to deal with us so our pastor wouldn't leave since he committed to staying through the transition. :) But we know that God will provide...and we will be good. :)

  13. Love your scripture of the week. I don't know where you find, or if you make, such pretty pictures with the verses but they are just lovely! Your sheet pan meal looks so yummy. I think I might give that a try this weekend!! And I do hope all goes well - smoothly and in His timing - with your pastor transition. Those are always bittersweet. I hope you are having a wonderful week. Blessings to you -

  14. I pray you're not too long in finding a new pastor, we have a couple of churches in town which have been unable to find anyone and are lead by lay ministers and visiting clergy.
