TODAY IS November 17, 2025
AROUND ME there's been some reading accomplished, some baking done and trying of new recipes and a bit of planning and preparations done towards Christmas so that I can truly spend time reflecting on the birth of our Saviour during the month of December as we approach the Advent season without distractions.
I AM PONDERING how quickly time passes. Thanksgiving is just a little over a week away and then the Christmas season will be upon us.
AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS
BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING The Pillars of Christian Character by John MacArthur
I AM THANKFUL FOR being able to be in church with my brothers and sisters in Christ.
NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN people are always more important than things...always.
FROM THE KITCHEN
QUOTE FOR THE WEEK
SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK
TO DO LIST FOR TODAY laundry, ironing, a bit of baking, applesauce making.
"So teach us to number our days,
so that we may present to You a heart of wisdom"
Psalm 90:12

Amen. To all of these.

DeleteNothing quite as refined and lovely as a cup of tea. I used to get loose tea from a tea shop in Florida where I lived. I need to start getting loose tea again. My sweet English mother-in-law told me once that her mother refused any tea that was loose. She thought of tea bags as "tea in surgical dressing." Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteI often drink my tea from different mugs, but some days nothing will do but a beautiful teacup like this one you gave me. I enjoy using both loose tea and tea bags. It mostly depends on my mood.
DeleteBeautiful cup to enjoy tea in. Yum, that bread and harvest salad look so satisfying. Have a good week, dear Dianna.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ellen, for your encouraging words. I hope you are getting rested up and hopefully still enjoying some autumn temperatures.
DeleteThe tea cup is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on getting some things done too, so December isn't so crazy.
I love your scripture today.
I know. I really enjoy just looking at it but once in a while a girl just needs tea in a beautiful cup. π
DeleteDecember can be a busy month and I think you are wise in getting done things now. I'm pleased with the little projects I can accomplish each day. Glad you enjoyed the Scripture. When I saw it, I thought of your family and the happenings over the weekend.
I was just thinking about starting some Christmas preparations, either cards or our family letter. We'll only have our youngest with us for Thanksgiving, so it will be a simpler affair. It does seem this year is going by quickly!
ReplyDeleteIt's a frequent battle to me to put people before tasks. It's one of those things I know in my head but often have a hard time living out.
I know my limitations and I also know that I can be a procrastinator which never ends well. I won't do any decorating until after Thanksgiving, but there are so many smaller things that I can do now to make next month more enjoyable.
DeleteMy friend, I understand about the temptation to put tasks over people. It's a real battle some days.
I was given some duck eggs and thought I should get my Christmas cakes started. I love that tea cup and a slice of your bread would be rather nice as well. I love the autumn quote. Take care.
ReplyDeleteOh...duck eggs are so wonderful for baking! I don't know anyone who has duck eggs anymore, so I am happy with the brown eggs we get from a local Amish man. The tea cup is a treasure for sure. It will go to one of my granddaughters in time. Take care, Diana.
DeleteA definite Amen. I love your tea set. I do love tea. Lovely photos and illustrations.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Linda, for your words of encouragement. It's always a blessing when you stop by.
DeleteNice to see you still doing the daybook entries. I miss them at times. :-)
ReplyDeleteHello Peggy! It's so wonderful to see your smiling face. I missed doing your Simple Woman's Daybook when I started blogging again a few years ago. I didn't want to copy yours exactly because...well...it was yours. But I loved the idea of journal entries so I changed some of the prompts. I miss you. ππ
DeleteWhat a pretty cup and saucer. I'm with you about how fast the time moves along!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen. It was a gift from our mutual friend Melanie.
DeleteYour Royal Doulton tea-cup and saucer looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe Harvest Salad with Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette looks delicious.
May the week ahead be a good one for you.
All the best Jan
Thanks so much, Jan. That teacup sits in front of a platter that I take out of the hutch fairly often and now and then, I just keep it out so I can enjoy a cup of tea from it. :)
DeleteThe Harvest Salad is the one I mentioned over at your blog yesterday (Monday). It really is tasty.
Thank you also for your well wishes.
Oh that is something I really enjoy as well!! Very much...and I feel blessed to do so. Things from the kitchen look delicious today! Honey Oat Bread - even sounds yummy! I enjoyed your journal today. Have a blessed week ahead, my sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteI knew we were kindred spirits...caring for our husband and home is our calling and I really enjoy it. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, my friend.
DeleteI love that verse from Psalms. And I really like the pretty tea cup.
ReplyDeleteI did laundry and I baked today too.
That verse does give us something to stop and ponder doesn't it. I thought you might enjoy the teacup. We were doing the same things today! That's neat.
DeleteI'm doing laundry too, it's from the trip!!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, yes, that return from the trip blessing! :) xx
DeleteYour reflections are always so grounding and calm π―️π Wishing you a gentle and meaningful Advent season.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words, Mocha. What you find here...the calmness and the grounding...they are from the Lord. To Him be the glory.
