From My Journal

 TODAY IS November 17, 2025

AROUND ME there's been some reading accomplished, some baking done and trying of new recipes and a bit of planning and preparations done towards Christmas so that I can truly spend time reflecting on the birth of our Saviour during the month of December as we approach the Advent season without distractions.

I AM PONDERING how quickly time passes.  Thanksgiving is just a little over a week away and then the Christmas season will be upon us.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS

Enjoying a cup of tea in this beautiful Royal Dulton teacup that was given to me by a dear friend.

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING The Pillars of Christian Character by John MacArthur

I AM THANKFUL FOR being able to be in church with my brothers and sisters in Christ.

NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN people are always more important than things...always.

FROM THE KITCHEN

Harvest Salad with Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY taking care of my husband and our home.

  1. Nothing quite as refined and lovely as a cup of tea. I used to get loose tea from a tea shop in Florida where I lived. I need to start getting loose tea again. My sweet English mother-in-law told me once that her mother refused any tea that was loose. She thought of tea bags as "tea in surgical dressing." Have a lovely day.

    1. I often drink my tea from different mugs, but some days nothing will do but a beautiful teacup like this one you gave me. I enjoy using both loose tea and tea bags. It mostly depends on my mood.

  3. The tea cup is beautiful!
I'm working on getting some things done too, so December isn't so crazy.
    I love your scripture today.

    1. I know. I really enjoy just looking at it but once in a while a girl just needs tea in a beautiful cup. πŸ™‚
December can be a busy month and I think you are wise in getting done things now. I'm pleased with the little projects I can accomplish each day. Glad you enjoyed the Scripture. When I saw it, I thought of your family and the happenings over the weekend.

  4. I was just thinking about starting some Christmas preparations, either cards or our family letter. We'll only have our youngest with us for Thanksgiving, so it will be a simpler affair. It does seem this year is going by quickly!

It's a frequent battle to me to put people before tasks. It's one of those things I know in my head but often have a hard time living out.

    1. I know my limitations and I also know that I can be a procrastinator which never ends well. I won't do any decorating until after Thanksgiving, but there are so many smaller things that I can do now to make next month more enjoyable.
My friend, I understand about the temptation to put tasks over people. It's a real battle some days.

  5. I was given some duck eggs and thought I should get my Christmas cakes started. I love that tea cup and a slice of your bread would be rather nice as well. I love the autumn quote. Take care.

    1. Oh...duck eggs are so wonderful for baking! I don't know anyone who has duck eggs anymore, so I am happy with the brown eggs we get from a local Amish man. The tea cup is a treasure for sure. It will go to one of my granddaughters in time. Take care, Diana.

    1. Hello Peggy! It's so wonderful to see your smiling face. I missed doing your Simple Woman's Daybook when I started blogging again a few years ago. I didn't want to copy yours exactly because...well...it was yours. But I loved the idea of journal entries so I changed some of the prompts. I miss you. πŸ’–πŸ’–

    1. Thanks so much, Jan. That teacup sits in front of a platter that I take out of the hutch fairly often and now and then, I just keep it out so I can enjoy a cup of tea from it. :)

The Harvest Salad is the one I mentioned over at your blog yesterday (Monday). It really is tasty.

Thank you also for your well wishes.
