Christmas in My Heart ~ a book review of the series

If you happened to read MY REVIEW of The Best of Christmas in My Heart by Joe Wheeler you will know that I thoroughly enjoyed this book and discovered in the process that it was just one of perhaps 30 volumes of stories that are good solid stories around the theme of Christmas, written by people who were so enthralled with Joe Wheeler's stories that he published that he had remembered from his childhood when his mother would tell them to Joe and his siblings.

I mentioned in that post that my intention was to try and find all of the volumes and collect them.  I was upstairs in one of the guest rooms and found the ideal place to store them, which had been a concern of mine when I contemplated collecting them.

Well, I have found a place where I can order the majority of them, I believe.  So far, I have read the following:

This post is to update any who might be interested in reading the books as a collection.

Each of the books has a story or two that has been found in some of the other books in the series and at first, I was really disappointed and even contemplated whether or not I wanted to spend money for them, only to find that there were repeats of some of the stories.  But as I read on, I knew that it was definitely worth it.

If you are a collector of books with wonderful artwork this series would definitely be worth the investment.  Some of the books are paperback, some are hardcover, but all of them so far have the most wonderful artwork in them.  Since some of the stories come from people who lived in the 1800s you can only imagine how beautiful the artwork is.  Definitely not of this time and age in which we live.

I have volumes 4, 5, and 6 ordered now.  They will come in after Christmas, but that doesn't matter to me.  My collection has begun and I'm excited.  It's so wonderful to be able to read stories of faith and good morals that all center around Christ and the things that truly matter in life.

  4. First off, Merry Christmas morning to you! I'm enjoying a little treat with my coffee and doing a little blog visiting while it is still dark here in the rainy PNW. I've written down this series with the author's name to stick in my purse and to make it a point to hunt for his books in used book stores, etc. It will be a treasure hunt. I might have to break down by next Christmas and order one if I don't find one. Our westside kids will be traveling over the pass and we hope to see everyone here by 3ish. Hope you have a joyful time celebrating our Savior!

  5. I'm glad you found some of the other volumes, as well as a place to put them. That's disappointing that some stories are repeated in different books--but it's good there are enough new stories to enjoy.
