TODAY IS February 2, 2026 ~ Happy Groundhog Day...will he see his shadow? :) I would rather trust God with the outcome than a groundhog...just my personal preference. :)
AROUND ME we are focusing on the beauty of the snow, ice and cold temperatures. Otherwise, well, we'd be going around looking awfully glum. Actually, for us, our friends in the south ended up with more snow out of this past weekend's storm than we did.
I AM PONDERING the beauty in nature right now.
AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS
BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING Saving Grayson by Chris Fabry, The Story of Grace by Horatius Bonar, and Susie by Ray Rhodes, Jr.
I AM THANKFUL FOR my family's safety during the storm last week, the linemen who worked to restore power for those who were without, and the first responders. We've read of a few people who have lost their homes to fire during the bad weather last week. God bless those who worked tirelessly to put out the fires.
NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN (OR BE REMINDEDOF) the sovereignty of God and that it does mean that HE is in control...not me.
FROM THE KITCHEN There's no picture for this section this week. We did eat, I assure you. I made a gallon of vegetable soup and a couple of mornings we enjoyed have some sausage patties from the sausage that Strongheart made in bulk and we froze in pound packages. Yummy!
SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY being able to be at church in person and being able to fellowship with other believers. Above that is to hear the messages from God's Word.
QUOTE FOR THE WEEK
SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK
TO DO LIST FOR TODAY Continue the pantry reorganization project.
"So teach us to number our days,
so that we may present to You a heart of wisdom"
Psalm 90:12

we did a puzzle during the Christmas break and I was obsessed! I enjoy doing them but I cannot balance my time lol.
ReplyDeletelol...When we first started the puzzle I was content to just put in a piece here and there, but then when it got super cold and we weren't going anywhere, I started on it and couldn't quit. We finished the puzzle at 12:04 A.M. :) Think I have a problem? lol
DeleteI really like that puzzle!
ReplyDeleteYou saw some beauty on Saturday. I'm glad you got to get out and enjoy that.
I saw Phil this morning and as expected he predicted more winter. I agree with you, he's not trustworthy. We seem to get more winter no matter what he predicts! :)
It was a really nice puzzle...at first the flowers were the easiest in my opinion and then I found out that the books weren't really that hard either. lol We made memories doing it together for sure. :) The pictures from Saturday are ones that Carroll took when he was out delivering a load of firewood to a lady who lives on the far end of the river. You are right...regardless of what Phil says...we normally get more winter. I mean, for us, February and sometimes March are usually our worst months for snow and ice.
DeleteSuch a pretty puzzle! It definitely is YOU!
ReplyDeleteOur final snow total in my area was 5-6 inches. It was pretty but I'll be glad to see it go.
Have a good week.
You know me well, my friend. xx Wow! You really did get hit. Hope your week is a good one and that you can enjoy being inside working on a project or something while you wait for the snow to melt.
DeleteMy sister, Lana, and I put that same puzzle together. It is a beauty. Phil is not in control of winter. :) Meeting together as the Body of Christ is an amazing privilege. Enjoyed the quotes and Bible passages, Dianna. Happy February to you!
ReplyDeleteYou know what I wish, Ellen? I wish they still made interlocking pieces. Those odd shapes sometimes create bumps, but I agree with you...it is a beauty. Aren't we glad that Phil is not in control of winter! Thank you...I'm glad you enjoyed the quotes and Bible passages....I thought of you with the Ryle quote.
DeleteWe're still in the teens at night (9 a couple of nights), so our snow is sticking around. But the sun was out yesterday (a welcome sight!), and some of the snow is starting to melt. Hopefully more will today. Unfortunately, my weather app is showing a wintry mix on a day when I have a couple of appointments. I hope I'll be able to go to them, but we'll see what happens. Like you said--God is in control!
ReplyDeleteThat puzzle is gorgeous. We had vegetable soup this week, too! And corn muffins.
That is a great quote from Ryle. I have a tendency to magnify my trials instead of putting them into an eternal perspective.
Nine above zero is really low for you. We had sun again today for the fourth day in a row, but who's counting? Me, that's who! lol Tomorrow will be more of an overcast day as they are predicting snow for us tomorrow. I will be praying that you are able to make it to your appointments this week. Our temperatures actually made into the 20s today! Heat wave, for sure!
DeleteI'm glad that you liked the puzzle. It was fun and we made memories working on it together. We had cornbread week before last, but I did have some homemade rolls in the freezer, so I took those out for Carroll. I'm currently staying away from breads.
That quote from Ryle is so convicting to me on many days in my life. I recently finished Sinclair Ferguson's book on The Sermon on the Mount, which is about Kingdom living. That was convicting as well because he spent time on the very thing that Ryle was talking about.
I keep saying I need to buy a new puzzle, but I haven't. Lots of beautiful photos of the area around you Dianna ...Rivers are so fascinating to me...I sure enjoy seeing them and when the banks are covered with snow, they really stand out. I'm with you...I don't put any trust into a rodent...I'm trusting the Lord. He has our seasons all planned out. Hope this February brings you lots of love and joy..
ReplyDeleteI enjoy being by the water, also, Shug. People come from as far away as California to do whitewater rafting on the Cheat River. The pictures I posted today don't show any rapids, but it was cold that day...I believe it was 12 for our high. Isn't it wonderful how God designed this world for one season to follow the other...such a rhythm that brings us joy when we take the time to enjoy what He's done for us.
DeleteHooray for being back in church yesterday. We had a guest speaker (our pastor is on vacation visiting family.....in Hawaii!!) and it was a wonderful morning! I'm so glad you ate this week:) and what a nice job on your puzzle. I really should try doing a puzzle now and then. They are always so pretty. Glad you are tucked in warm - and safe. God has been good during this harsh weather. Have a wonderful week ahead, my friend!
ReplyDeleteTo that I say AMEN! It was wonderful to be able to sit in our chairs and listen in person to what our pastor had to say rather than sitting in front of the computer. And fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ! I'm glad we ate this week, too. hahaha. Thanks for your comment on the puzzle. It was fun and we made memories working on it together. We are supposed to get some snow tomorrow, so maybe we can start another puzzle. Stay safe and warm! xx
DeleteAs much as I dislike cold I really enjoyed your pictures! LOL! A puzzle is a great way to wile away the hours of cold. I used to be able to read 2 or 3 books at a time. Now I just have to really focus to read one! :) I am enjoying Benefiting From Life's Trials. Slow... just a few pages here and there... Much to think about. Dan is a retired substation mechanic. He used to get called out in this weather all the time. I'm sure he is NOT missing it very much right now! :) Hope you have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you enjoyed the pictures...even though you don't like cold. To tell you the truth, I don't like cold either, but the beauty God has created in nature this time of year makes it bearable...especially when I stay inside. lol I finished the novel Saving Grayson today...it was a page turner. I bet you would enjoy it. Yes, I know what you mean about the MacArthur book. I read it the same way. That book is full of underlining and notes in the margins.
DeleteHope your week is a good one...praying for you, my friend. xx
Such a beautiful area, lots of nature and the Cheat River is gorgeous to see. Wishing you a fabulous February.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Bill. People come from as far as California to do whitewater rafting on the Cheat River. It doesn't show up in these pictures but as spring and summer get here, I will be taking more pictures of it and the rapids will be more visible. We enjoy the county we live in here in WV. Thank you for the well wishes.
DeleteSo good to stop by here to visit with you Dianna, as Mari mentioned your praises today in her blog post. I love winter, and am sad that we are not getting much of a winter in North Idaho, rather we are getting rain and flooding. However, our Lord knows just what we have need of, and so I am giving Him praise for the moisture we are receiving (even if I'd prefer its snow, lol)! Always a blessing to think upon the beauty and love of our Lord. Happy February to you!
ReplyDeleteHello Marilyn. Thank you for stopping by and leaving such encouraging words for me. I'm sure sorry to hear about the flooding in your area. I'm praying that as our temps warm up and the snow begins to melt that our area doesn't experience flooding. The southern part of WV gets a lot of flooding and we're hit hard with it last year...one right after another. I pray that you have a February full of praises! 🥰
DeleteIt seems as if everyone loved your puzzle as much as I did!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm making a pot of vegetable soup for our supper and I have a peach cobbler in the oven right now. When we have a soup supper I try to make a stick-to-the-ribs dessert.
I'm so happy to turn the calendar page to February 💗💗💗
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the puzzle. When I saw it on Amazon I knew how much I would enjoy working on it because books and flowers are two of my very favorite things. We had fun making memories working on it together.
DeleteI've been craving peach cobbler. I'm sure yours is delicious. I hope you will have a wonderful month of February!
Yes, the snow is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the puzzle!!
Hello Karen. I'm glad you liked the puzzle.
DeleteNature is amazing! You have captured it beautifully. The puzzle is so pretty! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by and for leaving such kind words for me.
DeleteBeautiful photographs from Cheat River.
ReplyDeleteI do like your puzzle, books and flowers, what a great mix.
It's certainly been soup weather recently and I'm sure your vegetable soup was delicious.
Enjoy this first week of February.
All the best Jan
Thanks so much, Jan, for your kind words regarding the pictures of the Cheat River. My husband gets the credit for those pictures. He delivered a load of firewood to someone who lives on up the river. It just happened that there were a few places where the snow had been cleared so that he was able to pull off the road and take the pictures. We are in for some more really cold days/nights and I just did a whole chicken in the crockpot today, so there will be some chicken soup coming up in the next few days.
DeleteSo much beautiful snow! And you know I love that puzzle. :) I've had a puzzle that I started before Christmas, then put it away because I didn't have time or space for it. Maybe it's time I get it back out...
ReplyDeleteWe still have two more puzzles to put together but haven't started either one of them. Then only place we have to work on them is our kitchen table and I can only deal with the disorder for so long! :)
