From My Journal

   TODAY IS March 23, 2026

AROUND ME It's been a pleasant weekend and today we are expected to receive an inch of rain.  Temperatures are moderate.

I AM PONDERING the beauty of fellowship with a precious Sister-In-Christ.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS

The privilege of watching this gorgeous Hawk posing for me in the trees last week.

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING Christ's Glorious Achievements by C.H. Spurgeon, and I continue on with To Seek and to Save by Sinclair Ferguson to prepare my heart for Easter during the Lenten season.

I AM THANKFUL FOR God's grace that intervened last week that alerted me to the fact that a referral had been made to the wrong doctor.  What a blessing to have found out when I did.

NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN (OR BE REMINDEDOF) how the grace of God sustains us.

FROM THE KITCHEN  nothing exciting happening this past week...just the ordinary everyday meals so no pictures.

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY having time with my husband.

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK

"Remember this...had any other condition been better for you than the one in which you are in,
Divine Love would have put you there."
Charles H. Spurgeon

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK

"Lead a quiet life,
mind your own business and
work with your hands."
1 Thessalonians 4:11

TO DO LIST FOR TODAY  Laundry, spending time in the kitchen.

"So teach us to number our days,

so that we may present to You a heart of wisdom"

Psalm 90:12

  1. It's cloudy and cold here - high of 31 predicted today. We're going to Cassie's preschool this morning to be the mystery readers. She'll be excited to see us!
I love the quote from Spurgeon!
    Have a great day!

    1. How fun for Cassie when she discovers who the mystery readers were! You are so blessed to be able to do things like this with your grandchildren, my friend.
That quote from Spurgeon was one that I've definitely needed the last few weeks! Glad that you enjoyed it too.
      Stay warm.

  2. I love that pretty geranium! They are one of my favorite flowers! I think I might (might!) have successfully overwintered one for the first time this year. I just put it back outside on Saturday when the weather was beautiful. Now I'm not sure if I was supposed to do that gradually and/or if I will need to bring it back inside. Obviously, I do not know what I am doing...but right now, it has grown so much and looks so nice. I hope I can keep it doing well -

    1. Thank you, Jennifer. I have five geraniums in my kitchen windowsill at the present time. And three of them (including the red one that is blooming in the picture) are ones that my husband started from seed. So, they are really special to me. Isn't it fun when you can achieve something like keeping a geranium over winter! It sounds as if you have the perfect place for it. I don't know what your temperatures are going to be like, but I think I would keep it inside for a bit yet. We are to having a low tonight of 25 F., so mine will stay inside until probably sometime in May. April is still too "iffy" around here.

  3. That verse from 1 Thessalonians is one of my favourites.
Your Geranium is pretty. Mine look a little bedraggled after surviving the winter but hopefully they will perk up when we get more sunshine.
    Have a great week.

    1. That verse says a lot in just a few words, doesn't it?
Thank you for your kind words about the geranium. I have three of them that my husband started from seed several years ago and so I have a mission every winter to keep them alive. :) They will soon be going to the greenhouse and then they will look really good!

  4. After a very full weekend, your scripture verse choice speaks to me! Glad you caught the error of being referred to the wrong doctor. We are supposed to get rain tomorrow. Our early mornings are down below freezing again, here. Our plants are confused. :) Happy new week to you.

    1. Dear Ellen, catching the referral being sent to the wrong doctor was purely God's grace alerting me! I am so thankful. Our low tonight is to be 25 and we actually had snow showers off and, on all day, today. We are due for one more snow....we always call it our Easter snow, but it won't last long either.

    1. That verse gives us so much instruction on how to live the Kingdom life in this fallen world, doesn't it? Happy memorization. I'm currently working on Philippians 3 and Romans 12.

  6. Every time I see a red geranium, I think of my Grandma who had several pots in front of their home. She loved red geraniums! I'm so glad you finally got the doctor mix-up discovered in time. That hawk looks like he's showing off! Have a great week.

    1. That's so special that red geraniums bring back memories of your Grandma, Melanie. I enjoy geraniums of any color, but the red ones really do stand out. My grandma had several pink ones and white ones as well. Being alerted about the doctor referral mix-up was truly God's grace toward me. There's no other explanation. xx

    1. We did too! Carroll had been outside and when he came inside, he said he got run out by the snow. I thought he was kidding...but when I looked out the window, sure enough, there was the snow just pouring down. It looked like it was raining snow. :)

Yes, I like that verse a lot too.

  9. Our temperatures are cool in the evenings but nice in the daytime. I'm so glad the doctor mix-up was discovered at this point and not at appointment time. That verse from Thessalonians has been coming up in a lot of conversations lately, though none of our recent sermons or classes have been in that book. Interesting!

    1. I'm glad that you are at least able to enjoy warmer temperatures in the daytime. That always helps. We actually had snow showers today off and on. Our low tonight is to be 25.
Regarding the appointment mix-up...I'm very thankful that I was alerted to the mix-up when I was, otherwise, I would have had the entire bill to pay myself. This way insurance will pay some on it. I know it was God's grace that brought everything to the forefront.

A beautiful flower by the window.

Good wishes for the week ahead.

    1. Thank you, Jan. That was totally God's grace in allowing me to be alerted about the mix-up with the referral. I am so thankful.
I love that shade of red on the geranium. It's one that my husband started from seed several years ago. He will soon take it to the greenhouse, and it will really show off then.
