From My Journal

 TODAY IS: 10 February 2025

AROUND ME:  We are preparing for more winter storms.  We are looking at 3-6 inches of snow from Tuesday through Wednesday.  But I still believe that spring is not far off.  We are already seeing so many signs of nature coming back to life to believe otherwise.

I AM PONDERING: the Providence of God.  Our pastor had arranged for someone to come and preach yesterday morning so that he could hear the man preach in person.  As it turned out, our pastor ended up getting the flu and God had already taken care of someone to fill the pulpit by the previous arrangements.

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS:  Wednesday evening we were under the threat of an ice-storm, so our pastor moved our Wednesday night prayer service to Thursday night.  His lesson was on prayer and then we went on to individuals praying as they wanted.  What a sweet, sweet time of prayer and fellowship as my brothers and sisters in Christ, shared the needs of their families and friends.

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY ENJOYINGBy Grace Alone by Sinclair Ferguson

I AM THANKFUL FOR:  my hard-working husband who did a bit of a redo in our bathroom by replacing ceiling tiles, painting the ceiling, and taking up old floor tiles and installing new floor tiles.  He also assembled a new cabinet...without any grumbling.  I so appreciate him and all that he does to make our home comfortable.

NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN: that resilience is a positive and not a negative.

FROM THE KITCHEN:

Almond Cherry Fudge

SOMETHING I REALLY ENJOY:

Yummy root vegetables

  1. We are expecting some cold weather here in east Tennessee but no snow, thankfully.
Your fudge looks so good. It looks so easy to make. I love the combination of cherry and almond.
I'm sure you're glad the bathroom do-over is done but how pretty it must look!
God always has things under control, doesn't He. I'm glad that He had someone to fill in for your pastor who was ill.
    Have a blessed week.

  2. Good early morning....Isn't it awesome that God already knows the happenings of our life? HE prepares our paths way ahead of us. What can I say about that fudge other than THIS LOOKS SOOOO GOOD!! It only I could eat a piece right off of this page. Y'all stay warm..I've been watching the weather and it looks like there is a lot more snow and ice sweeping across the country. 50 degrees here with rain later in the week. Happy Monday Dianna

  3. I'm sorry your pastor was ill and couldn't hear that message. But you're right about God's providence in setting that up.
I like the quote from Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
    Root vegetables are so good!
We are also supposed to get another storm from Wed-Thurs. It's becoming a joke in church that these storms keep coming on Wednesdays!

Oh, and I think I need to wash the window valances. Thanks!

  8. We have about five days of rain in the forecast but, thank God, all on days that are supposed to be above freezing. The days below freezing are showing no rain on my weather app. I hope that prediction proves true! Our daffodil shoots are coming up, so I hope the cold weather doesn't harm them.

That's so neat the Lord provided for a substitute before the pastor knew he'd need one.

Good hard-working husbands are a treasure. I've felt bad for Jim that the job of painting has entailed so many little fixes and so much cleaning. But we're both so glad with the results. He's painting in our bedroom this week, which will mean a night or two in the "guest bedroom." I guess it's a good idea to try that out. :)

I like that Tozer quote. I used to try to write things down to pray for during my quiet time. Now I pray for needs as they come to my attention during the day (or night).

  10. Pretty cool how God provided the Pastor when your Pastor was ill. Sorry your Pastor was ill though.
Handy husbands are blessings. Bet the bathroom looks great. The fudge looks delicious and I love root vegetables too, and they're good for you! :).
Love the praying quote. Sometimes a name will pop into my head for no reason - always take time to say a little prayer for that person.
