A Sensory Challenge

The month of July's One Word challenge given to us by LISA is helping us to use our senses to relate to our One Word for this year.  As always, when given the prompt for the month, I wonder if I can do it.  One thing about my One Word resilience is that it's helped me to step out of my comfort zone and take on challenges.

Let's begin with the sense of sound.  I Googled "sounds that resonate resilience" and this is the link to what I found.  I hope you will click on it and let me know in the comments if you think it fits with resilience.  Back Up Again

Another prompt in this challenge was Plant It, which would involve our sense of sight.  Lisa asked if our word was something that we could see growing, what would it look like.  That one was easy for me, as I've used a couple of pictures for this in almost every post that I've done on resilience this year.

The final thing that Lisa asked us to think about regarding our One Word was how it moves through the world.
Is it still or fast moving?  Resilience can be a bit of both.

Are its movements orderly or chaotic?  Again, resilience can be both.
They are orderly once we realize that we are to learn something from what is in front of us, but until we reach that point, it can be quite chaotic.

Does it flow like a river, leap like a dancer, or roll gently like a wave?
My experience this year with the word resilience is that once again, it can be a bit like each of those things mentioned.
Leaping like a dancer is what I recognize as a victory of overcoming whatever the challenge is before me.
That victory allows our spirits to flow gently like a river and takes us to the next challenging wave as it rolls in.

  1. Challenges indeed. This was interesting. I want to go back and try to see how my word of 2025, discretion, could fit into this exercise. I appreciate you making me use my brain! Blessings!

    1. Thanks so much, Cathy. Discretion is a wonderful word and one that we don't see being used much in today's culture. Lisanotes.com is where I get my prompts each month.

  2. Our sight and our hearing serve as gateways to our emotions and our spirit. I think that when we hear words of encouragement or scripture, it can strengthen our inner resolve. Same for seeing...Resilience is seeing beyond obstacles and teaches us to see hope. Definitely, the visual focus helps restore strength. This is a great post and it truly makes you think about your word Resilience..

  5. what a beautiful way to explore a word for the year thru the senses. When I used to walk outside (quit bc of autoimmune, boo) I would go through the five senses and witness what I experienced on my walk. I can still do that when I sit outside for a bit.

    1. I love that you already had this exercise going in your life, Karen! I'm sorry that your walks outside had to be laid aside because of the autoimmune issue, but you made such an adventure out of the time you did have. Good for you!

  6. Such a thoughtful post about your word and sound. Sound can be so evocative. The link isn't working but I see that others have also told you. We won't take me anywhere.

    1. So, I'm really sorry that the link for the sound didn't work. I should have checked that out after I posted. I found the same music here, if you care to try it out. https://www.bing.com/videos/riverview/relatedvideo?q=music+that+illustrates+resilience+Back+Up+Again&mid=7BC599671D2CE4E743117BC599671D2CE4E74311&FORM=VIRE

  7. I love how you're experiencing resilience in these sensory ways, Dianna. The visual one is what comes easiest to me, so I especially appreciate that you also described how you find resilience to move, both still or fast, orderly or chaotic. I'm listening to the music now from your link - so relaxing! I could take a nap with it. :) Thanks for linking up with us!
