TODAY IS September 29, 2025
AROUND ME there is more evidence each day that autumn has arrived. I see it in the change of colors on the trees as they increase, not only in numbers of trees showing color, but also in the deepening of the colors that God is currently painting. I feel it in the changes in the weather...both in the varying temperatures and also in whether the sun is shining or if we are having some rain, which we are welcoming. I can no longer judge what time it is in the mornings by just looking at the amount of daylight outside the window. I'm enjoying the lessening of daylight earlier in the evenings as it gives Strongheart and I more time inside together to read and talk.
I AM PONDERING many things these days...the importance of expressing our love, appreciation and gratitude to those around me being at the top of the list this week. I think the events of the last several weeks have shown us the importance of doing that...especially in a culture where hate stands out so vividly right now.
AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS changing out decor for the different seasons. I recently finished up my decorating for autumn. It makes the home feel cozier like we are getting ready to hibernate. :)
BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING The Christian Life by Sinclair Ferguson
I AM THANKFUL FOR the privilege of still being able to attend our place of worship, being able to read my Bible and have fellowship with other Believers.
NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN that God goes before us, preparing the way for whatever lies ahead. And I hope that I will always be found trusting in His sovereignty.

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK
SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK
"So teach us to number our days,
so that we may present to You a heart of wisdom"
Psalm 90:12

I'm so thankful to have been exposed to Ryle and his writings. I'll be pondering this one! Thank you, Dianna. Hope this new week brings special treats your way!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, Ellen, when it comes to Ryle's teaching. Have a wonderful week ahead.
DeleteSo much to think about and ponder lately! I love the quote and scripture. I am noticing the shortening of daylight now. I find myself waking up later simply because it's dark so much later now.
ReplyDeleteA lovely reminder in your post of what is really important! Have a blessed week.
I know. If we dwelled on these happenings very long it could be overwhelming. Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words, Friend.
DeleteAs I read your post I was reminded of the oldest living lady Jeanne Calment...."if you can't do anything about it, don't worry about it." It is said that she was content in her spirit and did not allow worries to take up space in her mind. Do the best you can and do not expect rewards... Always a Blessing to read from your journal along with your quotes and scripture...
ReplyDeleteWhen I read your comment, it made me think of Tasha Tudor. Her mindset was much the same as Jeanne Calment. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, Shug. xx
DeleteI love changing to fall decor in my house and I start right at the beginning of September hoping it will hurry the cool weather in.
ReplyDeleteI was a bit later than usual finishing up my decorating, but I should win the prize for how early I started ...mid August. π I was tired of the heat and had this illusion that if I put out the fall decor, it would at least look cool, regardless of the temperature.
DeleteI like your thoughts on less daylight in the evening. I always hate seeing the days get shorter, but that's a good reason to appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is putting out some good food. :)
Love the scripture you shared today.
Well, I try to find the positive. π Thanks for the kind words. The Scripture is one of my favorites.
DeleteI think we must be running just a little behind you in fall color. The trees in our yard just started turning last week. I didn't notice any fall color on the way to church yesterday, but I imagine there will be some next week. I hope to get my fall decorations out this week.
ReplyDeleteWhen the leaves started turning a couple of weeks ago, everything seemed so muted in color, but now we are beginning to see some real color. I love autumn and want to enjoy all of the colors of it as long as I can before dragging out the red and green. :)
DeleteA sweet post. π©·
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sandi.
DeleteHello! Thank you so much for the recipe! I will be making them soon. And, I love how you said it was time to hibernate. I am ready!
ReplyDeleteHi! You are welcome for the recipe. Hope you will enjoy what you make. I read on the internet today that watching a beaver eat cabbage will lower ones stress levels by 17%. I think hibernation could be an easier way 'cause I don't see too many beavers eating cabbage around here.π
DeleteI have changed some of my decor to look more Autumnal and I plan to change a few things around on Wednesday ... it will be the 1st of October, a good date to do it I thought :)
ReplyDeleteYour food from the kitchen looks tasty.
All the best Jan
Thanks, Jan, for your kind words. Happy decorating!
DeleteI too love fall for all the reasons you mentioned and more. I love the soups my husband will make (!) that warm us up on a cool evening. I love the pumpkins that sprout on porches and planters. And I love wearing fleece and SmartWool socks--so soft and cozy! Those Cowboy Cookies look terrific--thank you, Dianna, for providing a link to the recipe, and thank you for that R. C. Ryle quote, urging us to foster a contented spirit. No better way to live than contented in Christ! (Lord, help me remember that!)
ReplyDeleteHello Nancy. I so enjoyed reading the things that you love about fall! Thanks for sharing them with us here. You're welcome for the link to the recipe. Yes, a contented spirit is such a blessing.
DeleteI know I have said it before but I enjoy your journal blog posts so very much. I appreciate and agree with all you say, nuggets of wisdom and grace.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I know what you mean about the shorter days...I get up when it is dark, and I am confused about eating dinner as it is now dark when we do!
Thank you so much, Cathy, for your encouragement. I think the journal posts are my favorite ones to write. It's still daylight here when we eat dinner, but it won't be much longer until that too will occur in the dark.
DeleteI love that verse from Thessalonians 4. The Cowboy Cookie Bars look so tasty!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree that welcoming Fall with a few changes in our decor just makes our home a bit cozier πππ
The verse is rather straight to the point, isn't it? But I really like it too.
DeleteThanks so much for your kind words of encouragement.
It's hard to believe that October starts tomorrow. Time seems to be on a fast schedule. I also can't figure the time out in the morning because it is darker now. Lovely post and quote and your baking goods look delicious.
ReplyDeleteBill, thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I truly appreciate it.
DeleteAlways enjoy your posts. Wonderful quote and scripture.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to answer your question about the weave-its and yarn. The squares came from the one skein of yarn. I can get about 30 squares or so out of it.
I got Shadows of the Workhouse from the library today and will start it tonight!! :)
Thank you so much, Karen. I think that it's amazing how the weave it squares all came from the same skein of yarn and yet look so different. They are beautiful. I hope you will enjoy Shadows of the Workhouse. It's hard to read what people suffered but I learned so much by reading that book.
