From My Journal

  TODAY IS November 3, 2025

AROUND ME I've been learning a bit more about resilience...some that took all of my concentration to overcome, hence my absence here in the blogging world the last couple of weeks.  Thank you to each of you who have checked on me when I was absent.  Thank you to each of you who faithfully read here.  You are appreciated greatly.

I AM PONDERING THIS MESSAGE that I listened to a week ago.  And also THIS MESSAGE, also from a week ago.  Both are lessons from Galatians.  SO good!

AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS having family here with us.  This past weekend, our grandson was able to come for a visit and we definitely enjoyed having him here.  He's a joy to have around.

BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING The Pillars of Christian Character by John MacArthur

I AM THANKFUL FOR better health, medicine, and a Nurse Practitioner who understands me.   I'm also very thankful for my Strongheart who gives me the best of care when I am in need.

NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN  that people should not be judged solely by their appearance.

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words regarding the scones. They are our favorite now...with the exception, of course, of the traditional scone with jam and clotted cream. :) Thanks for the welcome back! :) It's good to be back.

  3. Good to see you here again! We are also having a beautiful day, except it's very windy! Our leaves will be flying off the trees.
You know I like John MacArthur. That's such a good quote, and one that deserves thought.

    1. Thanks, Mari. I enjoyed doing this post. It turned really windy here, too. We noticed over the weekend that there are areas where there are very little, if any, leaves left on some of the trees. The book by John MacArthur that I am currently reading is really good, too. It reminds me a bit of a Piper book that we read at the same time...there's a section at the end of each chapter of questions and spaces to write the answers. It could definitely be used as a reference book also. It was a free gift that Grace to You offered shortly after the passing of Pastor John.

  4. It is good to hear from you again. I haven't been as faithful as I ought to be in keeping up with reading posts. I get bogged down and then I feel bad that I've missed so much. I am sorry you've been having physical issues, but am glad you are getting the help you need. How wonderful to have your grandson visit you! That is a true blessing! I miss our grandson and wish he could just pop in, but Maine is a long way from Florida. How old is your grandson now? Our Noah is 26! Hard to believe...they grow up way too fast. The pumpkin scones look delicious. We are enjoying some beautiful fall weather here in Florida. I appreciate the quotes and thoughts shared today. Thank you.

    1. Thank you, Pamela. I completely understand about getting bogged down with the everyday and things that need our attention. Sometimes blog reading doesn't fit in the category of needing our attention. Thanks for your kind words. It's been a bit of a struggle health wise, but I'm beginning to do better now. I've thought of your grandson many times and have wondered if he gets to visit very often. Yes, that's quite the trip from Maine to Florida. Our grandson lives about five hours from us, and he was only able to be here for a short visit, but it certainly blesses us that he was willing to make the trip even for the short time. He is now 27. I knew he and your grandson were close in age but couldn't remember exactly how much. Thanks for the kind words regarding the scones and the thoughts shared here. Have a wonderful remainder to your week, Pamela.

    1. Thank you, my friend. I am doing better. I have some apples I need to use up, so I will be making another French Apple Cake at some point this week and then the remainder I'll make into applesauce. Happy Baking to you later in the week!

  11. I have had pumpkin scones on my mind all week. No idea why? But seeing yours fresh from the oven is the push I need to get them made today. So glad that you enjoyed your grandson's visit. I know that warms your heart!! Speaking of judging others, we just came through election season. We had a candidate here who actually ran ads (I saw them) saying her opponent was not qualified on the basis of her appearance. And she won. So very sad. Enjoyed your journal today...although I am bit late reading it. Hope you are enjoying your week, my friend!!

    1. I hope you will enjoy your pumpkin scones. They are SO yummy, and I don't even put a glaze on ours because we enjoy them warm without the extra sugar. Yes, that is sad. Thanks so much for stopping by Jennifer.

  12. I am sitting here thinking about how we make blog friends. We get to know these friends through their words and pictures on their blogs and their comments on ours. Though it can be like a slice of Swiss cheese, holes all through with questions not known😊.
I too have been away for a spell, like your comment says sometimes blogging is not a category needing our attention. But I do give thought to my blogging friends.
I am so very glad you are better and I offer prayers right now for you to continue in health and resilience. I hope we can get to know one another better on this side of heaven😊. Blessings!
