TODAY IS January 19, 2026
AROUND ME Everything outside is coated in white! We had snow several days last week, then it snowed Friday night through Saturday. Then during the night Saturday night, it snowed some more! It was a beautiful drive to church yesterday morning.
I AM PONDERING a new pattern in reading Scripture that I'd missed until our pastor highlighted it in his sermon yesterday. It's amazing how that rhythm in the Greek just pops out now as I am reading Scripture!
AMONG MY FAVORITE THINGS enjoying fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.
BOOKS I AM CURRENTLY READING The Sermon on the Mount (Kingdom Life in a Fallen World) by Sinclair Ferguson. This has been such a good read. I only read a chapter or two a day because it gives me much to ponder throughout the day, even though it is a review of our study of the same topic at church. I finished Christmas in My Heart6 by Joe Wheeler just days before 7,8, and 9 arrived! I am currently also reading Yours Til Heaven by Ray Rhodes. It's the "love story" of Charles and Susannah Spurgeon.
I AM THANKFUL FOR our pastor and church family.
NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN (OR BE REMINDEDOF) it's always good to go to the doctor when one is not feeling well so that you can find out the source of the problem and deal with it.
FROM THE KITCHEN Aha! I have pictures as proof that I have been working in the kitchen this past week!
Ina Garten's Bacon Potato Frittata
Absolutely delicious and worth the effort!
QUOTE FOR THE WEEK
SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK

"So teach us to number our days,
so that we may present to You a heart of wisdom"
Psalm 90:12

Great thoughts! Have fun in town!

Thanks, Donna.
DeleteThis cherry pie....looks yummy. One of my favorite pies. A fresh coating of white snow makes the scenery around us look pure and white. This quote sure speaks a lot of truth. What is shallow may be popular, but what's genuine is what truly changes a life. Enjoy your week Dianna....Y'all stay warm...
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Shug, for your kind words about the pie. Yes...I love the Spurgeon quote. Our low tonight is to be 4. :)
DeleteI'm interested in your new pattern of reading.
ReplyDeleteBob's favorite is cherry pie, he'd be thrilled to see that!
We're in a bad storm, had 10 inches of snow when I went to bed last night and it hasn't stopped - it's supposed to continue till tomorrow morning. Nothing is open here. A day to stay inside!
I will email you about the pattern of reading. It's just easier to explain that way.
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear about all of your snow! We've had more snow flurries today, but the wind has been horrible. We went to Morgantown because my hubby had an eye appointment or otherwise, we would have stayed at home.
Great quote. So much in the church today is shallow and superficial.
ReplyDeleteThe cherry pie looks wonderful! Cherry pie is my favorite pie.
No snow here, although it's cold. A snowy landscape is beautiful!
I really like the quote too, Melanie.
DeleteThank you for your kind words regarding the cherry pie. It was made with cherries that Carroll picked at an orchard in Hampshire County and then we froze them.
Glad you didn't get any snow to have to deal with. Our low tonight is to be 4.
oooh, too much snow! LOL! We had a dusting here over the weekend. It's gone already. I have finally picked up a book to begin some light reading. I have a stack in the wings as I begin to feel better emotionally. LOVE that cherry pie! It's one of my favorites. Looking forward to seeing your new crochet project. Hope you have a blessed week! :)
ReplyDeleteWhere we live, my friend, it's just part of winter. :) I'm delighted that you are feeling better enough to have an interest in reading again...even something light shows that you are moving toward the positive. We went to town today and I purchased some yarn to make a hooded scarf, and I am excited to start on it this evening. Praying for you, my sweet friend. xx
DeleteCurious about that new pattern in reading. :) That Frittata looks yummy. Enjoy your time in town!
ReplyDeleteEllen, I will email you about the reading pattern. Oh, my! That Frittata IS yummy! My husband had an eye appointment in town this morning, which was the main reason for going today. Then we ran a few errands, did the grocery shopping and had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant before coming home.
DeleteIt's always neat to learn things in Scripture that we've not seen before. That frittata looks great! I've read a book about Charles and Susannah Spurgeon, but I don't think it was that one. They had a sweet relationship.
ReplyDeleteYes it is, Barbara! 🙂 I am really enjoying the book. The more I read, the more I want to be like Susie when I grow up. 🙂
DeleteExcellent quote this week. Cherry pie is one of my favourites. Have a wonderful new week.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. Cherry pie is my husband's favorite also. 🙂
DeleteI'd love a piece of that pie!!! :) It's always fun to start a new pattern!!
ReplyDeleteI started the new pattern last evening and I think it will work up quickly.
DeleteThe Frittata and the Cherry Pie look great.
ReplyDeleteNo snow in my part of the UK but it's been a grey, dull day ... hopefully some sunshine tomorrow ... we shall see.
Wishing you a good week.
All the best Jan
Hi Jan. I'm replying to your comment on Tuesday. I hope you are having sunshine today .
DeleteThank you for your kind words.
The frittata sounds delicious. I'd love a slice of the cherry pie too. It's always a big hit here Stay warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteHello Friend. You would be most welcome to the fritatta and pie. It got down to 4 degrees F last night and our high today is 22 degrees F. So we are doing our best to stay warm.
