I've read several of Hannah Anderson's books and have enjoyed each of them. She is a pastor's wife in a small rural community in Virginia.
She's also a woman who takes her life as a Christian seriously and I love that about her and her writing. It definitely comes through with the words she shares.
As you can see from the cover,
the book is an invitation to live in God's Image.
The book is written in three parts:
From Him
Through Him
And to Him
with there being several little chapters in each part.
In these pages you will find the words
Imago Dei
many times.
It simply means Image Bearer.
As one begins the book,
they are introduced to the fact that when we claim the name of Christ,
we become His image bearers.
As one progresses through the book,
they will be introduced to the many ways
that we can be bearers of
His image.
I did find this book a bit more challenging to follow her line of thinking
more so than the other writings of hers that I have read.
Her theology definitely lines up with Scripture
and I agree with all that she said,
but sometimes the wording required me to reread and rethink in a few places.
I would still definitely recommend this book!

I started this book quite some time ago and couldn't get through it. Perhaps it may be because of what you said. Maybe I should give it another try. Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it takes me starting a book over once or twice before it reads smoothly for me, so I truly understand. It's always good to have a book that challenges me to reread and rethink things through. The book really was good.
DeleteReading good books is a benefit to our brains. Thank you for the review. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is, Ellen. This one did that for me. :) You are welcome for the review.
DeleteI love Hannah's books. I think this is her first one, but it was the fourth I read.
ReplyDeleteI do, too, Barbara. I loved the concept she presented in this book, but it was just some of the wording threw me off a bit. It never hurts to reread and ponder things. :)
DeleteMany thanks for highlighting this book.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
You are quite welcome, Jan.
DeleteI've never read any of her books. I'll see if our library as them.
ReplyDeleteShe's a really good author, Karen. I'm sure you would enjoy her. Turning of Days was the first of her books that I read. It had been given to me as a gift. Her husband does the illustrations in that book in particular and a few of the others.
DeleteYou are quite a reader!! I've slowed down a lot and it takes me longer to finish a book than before. Thanks for reviewing this book ( which sounds great).
ReplyDeleteI do love to read! I like to go ahead and write a review once I've finished a book and then just wait until I need one each week and post one of the reviews I've already written. It really is a good book.
DeleteThanks for recommending her book.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, Bill.
DeleteI have one of Hannah's books which many had highly recommended to me...but, for some reason, I had a hard time reading/getting into/etc. I don't think I even finished it. I should give her another try. And I always enjoy your recommendations. I hope you have a nice pile of books for the upcoming weekend. It is going to be a good one to stay inside, be cozy and do some reading!:) Blessings to you, friend!
ReplyDeleteYou really should give it another try, my friend. Thank you for your kind words. I do have a nice pile of books to keep me company over this snowy weekend that is forecast. I think we are only supposed to get a couple of inches on Saturday and another three on Sunday. So that won't be too bad. xx
DeleteI have not heard of that author, but the book sounds interesting. I am trying to do more reading this year. I do want to read the Left Behind series again.
ReplyDeleteI love to read, as does my husband. So, we spend much time with books! :) I read the Left Behind series years ago. I wish you well with your reading endeavors this year.
