A few days prior to our son and daughter-in-law's visit, Strongheart spent time in the garden harvesting our sweet potatoes. He ended up with four bushels of sweet potatoes, out of the 16 sweet potato plants that he started.
These are just a few of the very first ones that he dug.
While some of them were small (will make terrific baked fries),
as you can see some of them were quite huge.
What will we do with four bushels of sweet potatoes you ask?
We will share them.
As a matter of fact, he took a half bushel of them to church this morning to share with our church family there.
Not a single one was left.
It's so nice to be able to share produce! Our church has a table set out through the end of summer for people to give and take extras from the garden.
ReplyDeleteIt really is wonderful to be able to share the abundance of what God has blessed us with. I like what your church does with the table.
DeleteA lot of sweet potatoes! So nice of you to share. These look so much prettier than the ones you find in stores.
ReplyDeleteYes, my friend, 4 bushels is a lot of sweet potatoes. We could never eat that many. Sweet potatoes are on the menu in the upcoming week. 😊
DeleteI love sweet potatoes and they keep very well in a cool dry place. What a gorgeous crop!
ReplyDeleteYes, we keep the bushel baskets of them covered in an upstairs bedroom where it's cool. They keep really well.
DeleteI'm not a fan of sweet potatoes but my wife loves them.
ReplyDeleteIf she was here we would be happy to share. 😊
DeleteNice crop of sweet potatoes. I love them, Ken not so much.
ReplyDeleteSweet potatoes are such a versatile vegetable. Carroll's favorite way is sweet potato pie... but the majority of the recipes I make with them are much healthier. 😉
DeleteBeautiful sweet potatoes! We often buy them but they're never as fresh looking as yours...straight out of the garden.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sweet Friend, for your kind words. xx
Deletethose look so so so good!! I bet they taste good as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen. They really are delicious.
DeleteWelcome back, Dianna. My Monday and Tuesday escaped me but I'm happy to see you back in blogland. I trust you had a wonderful visit with your family. Those sweet potatoes look mighty fine. I'm not surprised the church folk grabbed them. Such a popular food these days.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ellen. It's good to be back. We had a great time with our family! I'll post a bit about a couple of the things next week that we did while they were here . We eat a lot of sweet potatoes.
DeleteThat looks a very nice crop of sweet potatoes.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thank you, Jan. Those were just the first ones that he dug. We ended up with a total of four bushels. :)
DeleteWow that is a wonderful crop of sweet potatoes and I sure the people at your church enjoyed them too. I like them split in half and baked in the oven till nice and soft.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Judee. We ended up with 4 bushels of sweet potatoes, so we had to share. :) There are so many wonderful ways to enjoy the sweet potatoes. We seldom eat any other potato than the sweet potato.
DeleteThe sweet potatoes were just scrumptious! Thanks for sharing! 🥰
